House Cleaning Prices Across New Jersey
Real ranges based on home size and frequency — what we actually charge across Union, Essex, Middlesex, Morris, and Somerset Counties. One price, written down, no surprises.
Standard NJ home: $140–$300/visit
Deep cleans typically $275–$500. Final price depends on home size, condition, and frequency.
Standard Cleaning — NJ 2026 Rates
| Home Size | Weekly | Bi-Weekly | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 BR apartment | $120–$160 | $140–$180 | $160–$200 |
| 2–3 BR house | $160–$220 | $180–$240 | $200–$280 |
| 3–4 BR house | $200–$280 | $220–$300 | $240–$340 |
| 4–5 BR house | $260–$380 | $280–$420 | $320–$480 |
| 5+ BR / luxury home | $340–$500+ | $380–$560+ | $420–$650+ |
Why monthly costs more per visit than weekly: A weekly cleaner walks into a maintained home. A monthly cleaner walks into 30 days of buildup. Same home, more time required — so per-visit price goes up the less frequently we visit.
Deep Cleaning — First Visit / Reset
| Home Size | Deep Clean Range |
|---|---|
| 1–2 BR apartment | $220–$320 |
| 2–3 BR house | $280–$420 |
| 3–4 BR house | $340–$520 |
| 4+ BR / luxury home | $450–$750+ |
Deep cleaning is almost always the first visit before recurring service starts, OR a one-time reset before guests, holidays, or selling. Includes inside oven, fridge, baseboards, vents, and detail areas a standard clean doesn't cover.
Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning
Move-out cleans are typically priced at deep-clean rates plus add-ons (inside cabinets, inside appliances, baseboards, interior windows). Most NJ landlords expect the property at move-in standard.
| Apartment Size | Move-Out Range | Typical Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1-bedroom | $220–$320 | 4–6 hours |
| 2-bedroom | $280–$400 | 6–10 hours |
| 3-bedroom | $380–$520 | 8–14 hours |
| 4+ bedroom house | $450–$750+ | 10–16 hours |

Optional Add-Ons
| Add-On | Price |
|---|---|
| Inside oven | $30–$50 |
| Inside fridge | $30–$50 |
| Interior windows | $40–$80 |
| Inside cabinets | $40–$100 |
| Baseboard detail | $30–$60 |
| Inside washer/dryer | $30–$50 |
What Actually Changes the Price
Two homes the same size can quote $200 apart. Here's what's actually going on:
Square footage
More floor = more time. Self-explanatory but the biggest single factor.
Number of bathrooms
Bathrooms are the most labor-intensive rooms. A 3BR/1BA quotes very differently than a 3BR/3BA.
Pets
Heavy pet hair adds 20–40 minutes per visit. Most companies price pet homes 10–15% higher.
Children
Same as pets — toys and high-touch surfaces take more time.
Tidiness on arrival
A cluttered home that needs picking up before cleaning takes longer.
Frequency
Lower frequency = higher per-visit price. Weekly is cheapest per-visit because there's less buildup each time.
Watch Out for These Pricing Tricks
Some companies quote a low base price and add fees you weren't told about. The patterns we see most often in NJ:
- "Hourly" pricing without a cap. A 4-hour estimate becomes a 6-hour bill.
- Per-cleaner fees. Each technician adds to the price beyond the quote.
- Mandatory deep clean to start. Some require a $400–$600 deep clean as the first visit before recurring service.
- "Travel" or "fuel" surcharges. Sometimes legitimate, often a markup.
- Cancellation fees. Read the fine print — some are 50–100% of visit cost if you cancel within 24 hours.
At DM House Cleaning, we quote one price. That's the price. Add-ons are optional and priced upfront. No surprises.
Real Pricing Scenarios
It's easier to see what shapes a quote when you compare specific homes. These are typical quotes we send across our 5-county NJ service area — your exact price still depends on a walk-through or photos.
3BR / 2BA colonial, two adults, no pets
Bi-weekly recurring. Standard recurring rate after first visit. First deep clean ~$340. Recurring bi-weekly $200–$240.
4BR / 3BA single-family, two kids + dog
Weekly recurring is common because of higher use. First deep clean ~$450. Recurring weekly $260–$320.
1BR apartment, single occupant
Bi-weekly is plenty for compact units. First deep clean ~$240. Recurring bi-weekly $140–$170.
5BR estate-format, multiple primary suites
Full-day visit with a larger crew. First deep clean $600–$900. Recurring weekly $400–$520.
2BR move-out apartment
Empty unit with inside-cabinet, inside-appliance, and interior-window detail. Range $280–$400. Tenants typically book 1–2 days before keys turnover.
Post-renovation kitchen + bath
Construction dust adds 30–60% over a standard deep clean. Range $400–$650 depending on home size and project scope.

Pricing FAQs
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
By the job. We quote one flat price after a quick walk-through or photos so you know the bill before we start. Hourly pricing without a cap is a common source of surprise bills in NJ cleaning, and we avoid it.
Do I have to start with a deep clean?
Almost always yes for new clients, but not because we require it as a policy. A recurring weekly or bi-weekly visit assumes a maintained home. If a home hasn't been professionally cleaned in a while, the first visit has to do the catch-up work before the cheaper recurring rate makes sense.
Why do prices vary so much between cleaning companies?
Three reasons. First, scope: some companies don't include inside-cabinet, inside-appliance, or detailed bathroom grout in the base price. Second, crew size and pay: low quotes usually mean shorter visits with one cleaner. Third, hidden fees: travel, "supply", per-cleaner, or cancellation fees that turn a $200 quote into a $260 bill.
Is tipping expected?
Never expected, always appreciated. The price you're quoted is the price you pay — tips go directly to the cleaner if you choose to leave one.
Do you offer discounts for recurring service?
Yes — recurring weekly is cheaper per visit than bi-weekly, which is cheaper per visit than monthly. The math is in the standard-cleaning table above. The discount comes from less buildup per visit, not from a coupon — it's structural.
Can I get a quote without a walk-through?
Yes. Most quotes start from photos of your kitchen, bathrooms, and living spaces plus your home size. We confirm the price during the first visit and adjust by mutual agreement if the home is meaningfully different from what we expected.
