Book around access, not a hoped-for handover

A move-in clean is easiest to plan when you know when the property will actually be available. Confirm keys, utilities and any building requirements before agreeing on a cleaning time. If the previous occupant or a contractor is still using the space, tell the team.

Leave a realistic interval between cleaning and the movers. The rooms need to be accessible during the visit, and floors need to be ready for traffic afterward. Do not book two teams into the same narrow hallway and expect either to work efficiently.

Walk through the empty rooms first

An empty property makes existing marks and damage easier to see. Photograph any concerns for your own records and identify them before cleaning. A scratched floor, damaged caulk or a stained finish may need repair rather than more scrubbing.

  • Check which rooms are actually empty.
  • Confirm running water, electricity and usable lighting.
  • Note delicate surfaces, new coatings and manufacturer care instructions.
  • Identify belongings or appliances that should not be moved.
  • Report evidence of pests, leaks or suspicious construction dust before the appointment.

Ordinary move-in cleaning is not a home inspection or a clearance for a hazardous condition.

Choose the scope room by room

Do not assume empty means everything is included

Empty cabinets are easier to reach, but cabinet interiors are still separately priced extras with DM. Oven, refrigerator, microwave and storage interiors also need to be requested and agreed when booking. Ask about availability, preparation and price for each one.

If heavy appliances need to be moved, discuss access and responsibility first. Do not disconnect equipment or move a gas appliance as part of a casual cleaning preparation. New flooring and paint may have curing or care requirements from the installer; share those instructions.

Keep move-in and move-out priorities distinct

A move-out clean prepares a property for handover under the agreed checklist. A move-in clean prepares the space you will use next. Both may involve similar rooms, but their deadlines, access and priorities can differ. Tell us whether furniture remains and whether another clean has already happened.

For your quote, provide the property size, bedroom and bathroom count, condition, empty-or-occupied status and target move date. List your interior-cleaning extras separately. A final check before the truck arrives should confirm that the agreed work is complete and identify any repair issue that cleaning could not resolve.

Make the next step specific.

Tell us the rooms, their condition and the extras you want included. We will confirm the scope and price before the visit.
